Rev. Billings CLAPP [Parents] [scrapbook] 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 was born 24 Oct 1790 in Walpole, Norfolk, Mass. He married Susan Quails SHED on 6 Jan 1817 in Pepperell, Middlesex, Mass. He passed away on 21 Feb 1873 in Enfield, Penobscot, Maine and was buried in Enfield Village Cemetery.

Billings Clapp was a Methodist minister and farmer in the Eddington, Enfield area of Maine. He first married Susan Shed on 6 Jan 1817. She died on 18 Jan 1817. He next married Emily Whitney on 19 Mar 1818. They had thirteen children, and she died on 6 Nov 1861. He then married Lorintha Marcella Curtis (Russell) on 2 Nov 1863. Her husband, William Russell, died a soldier during the war of the Rebellion, 22 Jun 1864. Billings is listed as guardian for Lorintha's daughter, Ida. Billings and Lorintha had four children.
Billings died 21 Feb 1873 and Lorintha died on 21 Nov 1875. Their daughter Lucy Wildes Clapp then became the foster daughter of Charles Carrol Howland and his wife, the former Margaret Ayers of Westport, Mass. Lucy's name was legally changed to Alice Howland on 1 Dec 1884 (not by adoption).

Lorintha Marcella CURTIS [Parents] [scrapbook] 1, 2, 3, 4 was born 4 Feb 1840 in Boxford, Essex, Mass. She married William A. BUZZELL on 21 Nov 1856 in Topsfield, Mass. She passed away on 21 Nov 1875 in Enfield, Penobscot, Maine and was laid to rest in Enfield Village Cemetery in the W. A. Buzzell plot.

Lorintha Marcella Curtis also contributed the prominent branches of Curtis, Davis, and Killan to the family tree. All these families were established in America by early in the 1700's and before. They proved themselves as patriots serving in the Revolutionary War. All the following were great great-grandparents of Lorintha:
John Curtis (1741-1783) enlisted in the Continental and Northern Army from Boxford, Mass., where he was born and died.
Ruth Peabody Curtis (1744-1829), a patriot, passed through the British lines at the Battle of Bunker Hill to carry food and powder to her husband, John Curtis.
John Killam (1729-1818) served as a private in Capt. Jacob Gould's company, Col. Samuel Johnson's Massachusetts regiment. He was born and died in Boxford, Mass.
John Davis (1735-1808) served as sergeant, Massachusetts Line.


Francis CURTIS [Parents] 1 was born 6 Oct 1777 in Boxford, Essex, Mass. He married Molly KILLAN on 11 Jan 1798 in Boxford, Essex, Mass. Francis passed away on 11 Oct 1829 in Boxford.

Molly KILLAN [Parents] 1 was born on 14 Sep 1774 in Boxford, Essex, Mass. She wed Francis CURTIS on 11 Jan 1798 in Boxford. Molly died on 31 Dec 1847 in Boxford.
