Alfred COOPER [Parents] 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 was born 7 on 9 Apr 1846 in Clayton Twp, Perry County, Ohio. He married Emma L. MATHEWS about 1872. Alfred died on 11 Jan 1927 in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. He was laid to rest in Mt Washington Cemetery.
At the time of the 1860 U.S. Census Alfred Cooper, age 14, was still living with his parents in Perry County, Ohio. After serving in the Civil War he headed West. Alfred was not found in the 1870 Census, however about 1872 he married Emma Mathews probably in Missouri where she was born. They moved on to Kansas. All four of their children were born in various counties of Kansas. They were in Washington County, KS, for the 1880 Census. In 1888 the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where Alfred would live the rest of his life. He was a carpenter.

Death certificate says Charles B. Cooper was born Sept. 14, 1882. However, U.S. Census records indicate he was born in 1884.
Presley Reuel COOPER [Parents] 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 was born 16 Jul 1874 in Yates Center, Woodson County, KS. He married Ada Estella HUDSON about 1899. Presley passed away on 26 Oct 1945 in Kansas City, Jackson, MO, and was buried in Mt Washington Cemetery.

Cooper, Los Angeles; 2 brothers, Charles Cooper, K.C., Mo. and Frank Cooper, Los Angeles; grand daughter, Joyce McAnally. Interment will be at Mt. Washington cemetery.Conflicting data have Presley Cooper being born in either Yates Center or Colony, Kansas. Unfortunately, neither location was required to record births in 1874. U.S. Census information indicates Presley Cooper held various occupations; mechanic, car dealer, and finally as an interviewer with the U.S. Employment Service. His middle name was Reuel in honor of his grandfather, Reuel Cooper.

Donald Bashford Cooper was born in 1901 in southern Ohio. At the age of 15 he suffered the loss of his father, Howard B. Cooper, a Methodist minister, in a tragic accident. The family, his mother and younger brother, then moved to Delaware, Ohio.
Donald attended Culver Military Academy as a young man. Later he enrolled at Ohio Wesleyan University and graduated in 1923. He went on to Harvard Business School, graduating in 1925. His early career was with Shawmut Bank in Boston, and he joined the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in 1936. During World War II, he was with the Lend-Lease Administration in Washington, D.C.
Following the war, Donald settled in Westport, Connecticut, and established a financial consulting business. He was also active in Westport politics and civic groups. He served as president of the Compo Beach Association and was a justice of the peace for many years.
In 1928, Donald married Doris Fayette Olds in Boston. They had three children: two sons and a daughter. Following a divorce in the mid-1950's, Donald married Primrose Fardel Bacon in Westport. There were no children from this second marriage. In 1966, one of Donald's sons, Donald Cole Cooper, died in an automobile accident near Fairbanks, Alaska.
Donald B. Cooper passed away on April 3, 1985, in Westport, CT. His wives have also died, Doris in 1985 and Primrose in 1988. As of 2004, Donald's surviving son and daughter are still living.
Primrose FARDEL was born 13 Mar 1906. She married Donald Bashford COOPER on 13 Mar 1954 in Westport, Fairfield, CT. Primrose passed away on 10 Aug 1988 in Old Greenwich, Fairfield, CT.

Chauncey ALFORD 1, 2 was born about 1793 in Vermont. He married Harriet Julia SPENCER. He died 20 Oct 1845.
Chauncey Alford was probably born in Vermont around 1793. During his young and productive years he lived in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He is described in a history book of the region as a "clever, social, upright, honest man." He identified with the cause of education and was one of the early teachers in the Quaker Meeting House in Wellsboro, PA. In 1817 he founded and served for many years as a trustee of the Wellsboro Academy, dedicated to quality education. Chauncey Alford was appointed a justice of the peace in 1827, and in 1833 he was elected county commissioner, serving a term of three years. When the common school law of Pennsylvania was approved in 1834, Chauncey Alford was elected to preside over the convention to implement the new system in Tioga County. That accomplished, Chauncey and his family moved to Ohio in 1839. They appear in the 1840 U.S. census as residents of Scioto County, Ohio. Chauncey Alford died in the Fall of 1845. His widow, Harriet, and seven children moved to Hamburg, Calhoun County, Illinois.
Harriet Julia SPENCER [Parents] was born on 21 Feb 1800 in Tioga County, PA. She married Chauncey ALFORD. Harriet died about 1863.
When Chauncey Alford died in the Fall of 1845, his widow, Harriet, and seven children moved to Hamburg, Calhoun County, Illinois. Harriet sold a property in Illinois on Nov. 26, 1859, and that is the last known public record of her. Family records say that Harriet Alford died in 1863.

Amy White HOWLAND [Parents] was born on 28 May 1836 in Westport, Bristol, Mass. She married Charles H. RICHMOND on 3 Jun 1856 in New Bedford, Bristol, Mass. At age 72 Amy died in 1908 and was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Lives of Boston Man and Father Span 31 Presidents' Terms --- Less than a year and a half after George Washington made his long coach trip from Mt. Vernon to New York City to become the first President of the United States, the father of Joseph Lawson Clapp, Bromfield Street furrier, was born in Middleboro, Massachusetts. He was Billings Clapp, born Oct. 24, 1790, died 1873, and between them, father and son have lived through the 39 administrations of 31 presidents.
Joseph Clapp who lives in Malden was born May 1867 in Enfield, Maine, where his father was then the Methodist preacher. He was one of 17 children born of two of his father's three marriages. His sister, Miss Lena Clapp, 80, works with him. Another sister, Lucy, 76, lives in Ohio, and a brother, Samuel, 74, lives in Allston. Their mother was Lorintha Curtis of Boxford who was 50 years younger than her husband and lived only two years after him. Mr. Clapp's oldest half brother was born in 1818. Parson Clapp as a young man worked as a carpenter on St. Paul's Church, now the Cathedral.
Mayna Morley PETERSON was born on 19 Jul 1875. She died on 25 Dec 1946. She wed Joseph Lawson CLAPP.

Maude Tracy Cole, the eldest daughter of Silas Chauncey and Frances Eleanor Smith Cole, was born July 20, 1875. At a young age she married William Appleton, a West Side (about three miles northwest of Portsmouth, Ohio) farmer. They became the parents of two daughters, Faye and Hazel. Maude’s early married life was spent in Scioto County, however after a few years she was divorced from William Appleton. She then married a man named Patterson and resided in Chicago, IL for a period. Following termination of that marriage, she married John W. Bobbitt, a native of North Carolina. They lived in Florida, primarily in Miami, Coral Gables, and Coconut Grove locations. There were no children by these subsequent marriages.
John W. Bobbitt died in Florida on August 8, 1932. Maude lived about 25 years in Florida, making periodic visits with her parents at the old homestead at Coles Park, northwest of Portsmouth, Ohio. Returning to Florida from such a visit in the fall of 1940, she died suddenly from heart failure at Miami on October 24, 1940, at the age of 65 years, 3 months, and 4 days. Her grave is in the Rushtown Cemetery (some ten miles northwest of Portsmouth) in the Silas Cole family plot by the side of her parents.
