Isaac W. Mr. Cooper is of English descent. His grandfather (also Isaac W. Cooper) was born in England, but came to this country and settled in Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania, where his son, Amos Cooper, was born in 1808. Later, in the year 1812, the grandfather, Isaac W. Cooper, moved with his family out into the great new state of Ohio, which a few years before had been a part of the Western Reserve country, and located in Perry county. When the war of 1812 broke out he sided with the country of his adoption, and was a soldier in that war, fighting against the English and for the United States. Amos Cooper, father of Isaac W. Cooper. came with his parents in 1812 from Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania, to Perry county, Ohio. Later, in the year 1832, he moved to Hancock county, Ohio, where he afterwards resided and where he died in 1879. He was a farmer all his life, and was a honored and esteemed citizen. Isaac W. Cooper was reared on the farm in Hancock county, where he resided until 1900 when he moved to Findlay to take life a little easier and enjoy some of the comforts of life for which he had worked and planned for so many years.
In the year 1864, when more volunteers were called for, he entered the Union army and served four months in Company G, One Hundred and Thirty-third Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, as a private. He was in the fighting between Richmond and Petersburg during the Virginia campaign, and under fire for almost a month. After being mustered out at Columbus he returned home to Portage township, Hancock county, Ohio. Mr. Cooper belongs to Stoker Post No. 54, Grand Army of the Republic.

Obituary printed in the Findlay Weekly Jeffersonian, October 27, 1921, page 6:
Robert A. Cooper hangs himself. Brooded over illness of wife. Standing on a rung of a step-ladder leaning against the wall of the woodshed in the rear of his home, 320 West Lincoln street, with the noose of a small rope the size of a clothes line about his neck, Robert A. Cooper, 68, jumped to his death. By the flickering light of a lantern, his body was found by his son, Dr. Clarence M. Cooper, of Bellevue, Ohio, and Mrs. Stella Clay, a trained nurse, when they entered the shed searching for the missing man.
While the body of Mr. Cooper lays in the funeral parlor of the Renshier morgue this morning, his wife lies at the point of death at the family home. She is unconscious and knows not of her husband's suicide. Brooding over the serious illness of his wife, is no doubt the cause of Mr. Cooper's act. Earlier, Mr. Cooper, melancholy and depressed, turned his gaze to a calendar hanging on the wall and said to his daughter-in-law, wife of Dr. Cooper, that the 22nd of October would be the 47th anniversary of his marriage. At the supper hour he was missed. A search of the residence found no sign of Mr. Cooper. Later in the evening a second search was made, and Dr. Clarence Cooper found the cold form of his father.
Mr. Cooper was a retired farmer, having resided at his West Lincoln street residence for the last 20 years. He was born January 6, 1853, in Portage township, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Cooper, early settlers. On October 22, 1874, he was married to Mary Josephine Knoke. Two children were born to the union, Dr. Edwin H. Cooper, located in Seattle, Wash., and Dr. Clarence M. Cooper of Bellevue who found the body. One grand-daughter, Mary Irene, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. C. M. Cooper, survives, as well as two sisters, Mrs. William Cusac of Findlay, and Mrs. Jane Wolf of Toledo, formerly of this city.

Obituary printed the Morning Republican, Findlay, Ohio, on October 24, 1921, page 5:
Mrs. R. A. Cooper follows husband. Without knowledge of the suicidal death of her husband, Robert A. Cooper, who hung himself Thursday afternoon in the wood shed at the rear of the family home, 320 West Lincoln street, Mrs. Mary Josephine Cooper, 67, died at 5:15 o'clock yesterday morning after lingering for days in an unconscious state.
She had been in a critical condition for the last two months, suffering with paralysis, and for the last two weeks had been unconscious practically all of the time. Last Thursday death lurked near the Cooper home, and it is believed that then Mr. Cooper, thinking his wife was soon to pass away, resorted to suicide that the two might be buried together.
A double funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with Rev. W. Frank Reber, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, officiating. It will be the first double funeral to be held in Findlay for many years. The services will be private. Those desiring to view the remains may do so from 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon until Wednesday noon.
Dr. Edwin H. Cooper, of Seattle, Wash., a veteran of the World War and formerly of Findlay, is expected to reach this city Tuesday morning. He does not know of his mother's death although he knew her condition was critical. He is on his way to Findlay in response to a telegram telling of his father's death.
Mrs. Cooper was the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth (Barnd) Knoke, having been born and reared in Allen township. On October 22, 1874, she married Robert A. Cooper. They had resided in Findlay the last 20 years.
Two children were born to them, Dr. Edwin H. Cooper of Seattle, and Dr. Clarence M. Cooper of Bellevue, Ohio. One granddaughter, Mary Irene, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. C. M. Cooper, survives also.
Dr. C. M. Cooper arrived in Findlay last Thursday night to be at the bedside of his mother when it was learned that his father had not been seen about the home for several hours. In the search which followed, Dr. Cooper found the lifeless form of his father by light of a lantern, hanging from a rafter in the wood shed.
