Harry D. Cooper, age 78, of 29 N. Main St., Thornville, a retired rural mail carrier and former Thornville mayor, died Friday afternoon in Arlington Nursing Home at Newark.
He was born here March 1, 1897. Mr. Cooper carried mail from the Thornville post office for 43 years. He was a life-member of Trinity Church of Christ, a veteran of World War I, and a member of Edgar A. Orr Post 342 American Legion, a 55-year member and past master of Thornville Lodge 521 F&AM, and a member of Lutheran Reformed Cemetery Board.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gail (Nora Lee) Gutridge of Thornville; a son, Paul of Columbus; a sister, Mrs. Marguerite Edmund of Thornville; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Charles R. Boring Funeral Home. Burial was in Lutheran Reformed Cemetery.

Herbert Cooper, 55, Succumbs at Thornville - Herbert Cooper, age 55, of Thornville, a mail carrier for 18 years, passed away at his home, Monday at 6 p.m., following a lengthy illness. He was born in Licking County, the son of Owen and Florence Cooper.
Surviving him are his widow, Chloe; a daughter, Mrs. William Bachert of Coshocton; four sisters, Mrs. Eva Boring of Newark, Mrs. Lulu Church of New Salem, Mrs Marguerite Edmund of Lancaster, and Mrs. Martha Bugh of Thornville; and two brothers, Guy and Harry of Thornville.
Funeral services were conducted at the Evangelical and Reformed church of Thornville, of which he was a member. Rev. Paul Berenstock and Rev. W. S. Langhans officiated. Burial was made in the Lutheran and Reformed cemetery by Dorris L. Baker, director.

Fred Cooper, 53, who resided south of Thornville, died Monday afternoon of last week, in a hospital at Gallipolis, where he had been receiving treatment.
He was the son of the late Thomas Cooper and is survived by his mother, Mrs. Louisa Cooper of the home; two brothers, John and Bert of Thornville; two sisters, Mrs. Benton Snyder of near Somerset and Mrs. Clark Hamm of near Thornville.

Thornville, Ohio - Bert S. Cooper passed away at his home Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m., following a brief illness. He was the son of Thomas and Louisa Cooper, and he had engaged in farming all his life.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Osa Cooper; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Ryan of Columbus, and Miss Elizabeth Cooper of the home; one son, Thomas Cooper of Newark; also one sister, Mrs. Martha Snyder of Somerset, and one brother, John Cooper of Thornville, and two nieces.
The funeral services were held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the D. L. Baker funeral home, conducted by Rev. W. S. Laughans. Burial was in the Lutheran and Reformed cemetery.

Funeral services for John R. Cooper, 90, Thornville, were held Sunday p.m. at the Charles R. Boring Funeral Home, Thornville, with Rev. George Davis officiating. Burial was made in Lutheran Reformed cemetery. Mr. Cooper died Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospital.
He was born January 17, 1879, near Thornville, a son of Thomas I. and Lue Wells Cooper. He served as clerk to the Perry County Commissioners for 27 years. He also served as Mayor of Thornville being elected to that office in 1950 at age 72 years. He was a member of the Thornville United Methodist church and Bruno Center Grange.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Martha Snyder, Zanesville, and several nieces and nephews. His wife, Emma died in 1961.
Emma Baird was born about 1882 in Ohio. She married John R. COOPER about April 1917. She died in 1961.
