Orville J. COOPER [Parents] 1 was born 25 Mar 1906 in Portage Twp, Hancock County, Ohio. He married Catharine Jane DILLON on 19 Oct 1929 in Findlay, Hancock, Ohio. Orville passed away on 18 Nov 1995 in Findlay and was buried in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Funeral services for Orville J. Cooper, 89, of 6338 County Road 18, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, the Revs. Lewis Thomas , J. D. Thomason, and Charles Sandstrom officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Cooper died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 1995 at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center. He was born March 25, 1906 in Portage Township to John and Aura (Withrow) Cooper. He married Catharine J. Dillon on October 19, 1929, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, five daughters, 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, and a sister. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter and two sisters, Phama Cooper and Stella McQuistion.
Mr. Cooper was a retired machinist at Garwood Industries and a retired farmer. He was a former substitute teacher at the Findlay High School vocational department.
He was a 61-year member of Stonebridge Church of God (formerly East Foulke Avenue Church of God), where he formerly taught Sunday School and served on the board of trustees. He attended Cornerstone Community Church of God, Colon, Michigan. He also was a former member of the Ohio National Guard.

Catharine Jane DILLON [Parents] 1, 2 was born on 25 Feb 1911 in Putnam County, Ohio. She married Orville J. COOPER on 19 Oct 1929 in Findlay, Hancock County, Ohio. Catharine died on 16 Apr 2002 and was laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery, Hancock, Ohio.

Funeral services for Catharine J. Cooper, age 91, of 335 Defiance Ave., will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, the Revs. Charles Sandstrom and Ronald D. Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Cooper died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at her residence. She was born February 25, 1911, in Putnam County to Gideon and Crilla (Casteel) Dillon. She married Orville J. Cooper on October 19, 1929, and he died November 18, 1995.
Surviving are two sons, five daughters, 19 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and a sister. Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by a grandchild; four brothers, Donald, Jerry, Robert and William; and a sister, Helen Silveus.
Mrs. Cooper was a homemaker. She was a member of Stonebridge Church of God.

Stella E. COOPER [Parents] 1, 2 was born on 6 Oct 1893 in Portage Twp, Hancock County, Ohio. She married Frank Delmar MCQUISTION on 31 Mar 1920 in McComb, Hancock, Ohio. She died on 21 Sep 1993 in McComb and was buried in Bethel or Ten Mile Cemetery, Hancock, Ohio.

Funeral services for Stella E. McQuistion, age 99, a resident of Winebrenner Health Care Center and formerly of McComb, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Hartley Funeral Home, McComb, the Rev. John Beckler officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, in Portage Township.
Mrs. McQuistion died at 5:59 p.m. Tuesday at Blanchard Valley Hospital. She was born October 6, 1893 in Portage Township to John P. and Aura May (Withrow) Cooper. She married Frank Delmar McQuistion on March 31, 1920, and he died April 29, 1946.
Surviving are a daughter; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Orville Cooper, Findlay; and a sister, Lewanda Elsea, Findlay. Another sister, Phama Cooper, preceded her in death.
Mrs. McQuistion was a former nurse and a retiree from the former Tasty Taters. She was a member of McComb United Methodist Church and its WCTU and WSCS.


Raymond G. ELSEA died on 30 Apr 1973. He married Lewanda E. COOPER on 27 Aug 1930 in Hancock, Ohio.

Lewanda E. COOPER [Parents] 1, 2 was born 21 Jan 1909 in McComb, Hancock County, Ohio. She married Raymond G. ELSEA on 27 Aug 1930 in Hancock County. She passed away on 7 Jul 1999 in Findlay and was buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Hancock, Ohio.

Funeral services for Lewanda E. Elsea, age 90, formerly of 411 Howard St., will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, the Rev. Melvin H. Summy officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Elsea died at 8:52 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at Winebrenner Health Care Center. She was born January 21, 1909, in McComb to John and Aura (Withrow) Cooper. She married Raymond G. Elsea on August 27, 1930. He died April 30, 1973.
She also was preceded in death by one brother, Orville Cooper: and two sisters, Phama Cooper and Stella McQuistion. Mrs. Cooper was a homemaker. She was a member of College First Church of God.


Charles A. WORTMAN [Parents] 1 was born on 4 Dec 1828 in Ohio. He married Rachel ASHBAUGH. Charles died on 7 Apr 1882 in Scioto County, Ohio. He was laid to rest in Turkey Creek Cemetery, Scioto, Ohio.

Obituary from the Portsmouth Times, Saturday, April 15, 1882:
Mr. C. A. Wortman, who died at his residence above Union Mills, Friday afternoon of last week and was buried on Easter afternoon, had the largest following of any interment hertofore taking place upon the West Side. The services were held at the Old Town Church. Over seventy-five viehicles formed the procession, but proceeded no further on account of the heavy hailstorm which prevailed. He was taken to Turkey Creek cemetery, a distance of six miles. Revs. Dillon's and Donaldson's eulogizing remarks upon the deceased affected the entire attendance to tears. He was over 53 years of age, had been a member of the Methodist church for twenty years and was a Trustee of the church at the time of his death. A loving companion and eight children survive him, all resideing at home but one daughter, Mrs. Givens, who lives on Twin Creek. A large number of relatives and friends from a distance were present.

Rachel ASHBAUGH [Parents] 1 was born on 13 Mar 1834 in Leachburg, Anderson County, PA. She married Charles A. WORTMAN. She died on 27 Feb 1933 in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio. Rachel was laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Portsmouth.

Obituary from the Portsmouth Times, Tuesday, February 28, 1933:
Mrs. Rachel Wortman, one of Portsmouth's oldest residents, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. N. Brady, 1231 Grandview avenue, Monday, at 11:15 PM, following a lingering illness of complications and infirmities. Mrs. Wortman would have been 99 years old March 13. She was the oldest member of Trinity M.E. church, and was a member of the Sixth Street M.E. church, before the new church was built and called Trinity.
Mrs. Wortman was born in Leachburg, PA, March 13, 1834, and was the eldest of ten children. Her parents were Jacob and Anna Thompson Asbaugh. They came to Ohio when Mrs. Wortman was a girl and settled on a farm at Buchanan, in Pike county. She resided there for many years. She was married to Charles A. Wortman, who preceded her in death about 50 years ago. After their marriage they lived on Carey's run for a number of years, and he helped in building the church there. She had been a resident of Portsmouth for 52 years and the last 14 years had made her home with her daughter. She was the mother of eight children, two of whom, Mrs. Brady and Mrs. Ella Cole, Chicago, IL, survive. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. J. L. Bond, of Arkansas, eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Wortman was a faithful Christian, and though she had not been able to take an active part in the religious work of her church for many years, she had always been interested in it. During the Civil War, when she was 27 years of age, Mrs. Wortman resided in Pike county. She saw many changes in the progress of civilization during her lifetime.
Funeral services will be held at the Windel-Howland funeral home Thursday at 2 PM, with Rev. Arba Martin, pastor of Trinity church, in charge. Internment will be in Greenlawn cemetery. The boldy will be removed to the residence of Mrs. Brady, on Grandview avenue, tonight where friends may view it until the funeral hour.

Grace Lilly COLE [Parents] was born 27 Dec 1875 in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio. She married Richard Lineal BUSH on 10 Oct 1895 in Hulett, Crook County, WY. Grace died on 21 Aug 1960 in Sundance, Crook, WY.
