Lucillia HOLCOMB [Parents] 1 Lucy was born 14 Jun 1831 in Bearfield Twp, Perry County, Ohio. She wed Williamson SAYRE on 1 Jan 1856 in Perry County. She died on 31 Oct 1909 in New Lexington, Perry, Ohio. Lucillia was laid to rest in Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio.

He married Rachel LUDLUM on 28 Jan 1779 in Cumberland, New Jersey. Reuel passed away on 8 Jan 1841 in Perry County, Ohio and was laid to rest in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.

SHEPPARD, Hope

Reuel Sayre was born in July 1754, a son of Thomas and Rachel (Dennis) Sayre. Reuel is credited as being a Revolutionary War soldier. He volunteered in the Salem County, New Jersey, Militia and went out under Capt. Wood in August 1776. He served as a private and later as a lieutenant. Three of his brothers also served. Reuel Sayre escaped the British massacre at Hancock's Bridge, NJ, in the early morning of March 21, 1778, however his brother Reuben was killed and another captured. In November 1832, Reuel Sayre applied for a pension which is on file in the Pension Bureau, Washington DC.
Following the war, Reuel married Rachel Ludlum in January 1779. She died in 1793, and Reuel then married Hope Sheppard in April 1794. Hope was the daughter of Ephraim Sheppard and his second wife, Sarah Dennis. Reuel fathered twelve children by these marriages, however only five or six children reached adulthood.
About 1795 Reuel and his family moved from New Jersey to Pennsylvania. They were living in Washington Township, Fayette County, PA for the 1810 Census. Isaac Cooper resided in the same township. The Sayre family then migrated to Ohio in about 1815 and was is in Clayton Township, Perry County, Ohio, for the 1820 Census. He was listed right next to (or in the same household) with Isaac and Phebe (Sayre) Cooper. Three of Reuel's other children married and settled in Perry County.
Reuel Sayre was a farmer and an innkeeper. The Sayres spread out through the county. At one time there was a Sayre village, postoffice, and general store. Reuel lived to an advanced age. By 1840 he was staying with his daughter, Hope, and son-in-law, Isaac Bennett. Reuel died in 1841, age 86, and was buried in Hopewell Baptist Cemetery.

Reuben SAYRE [Parents] 1, 2, 3 was born 14 Dec 1779 in New Jersey. He married Anna LLOYD. Rueben died on 30 Jan 1842 in Athens County, Ohio and was laid to rest in Concord Cemetery.

He was a soldier in the War of 1812.

Anna LLOYD was born on 1 May 1773 and died on 9 May 1840. She married Reuben SAYRE.


John HULL 1, 2, 3 was born 22 Jul 1792 in Pennsylvania. He married Rachel SAYRE. John passed away on 4 May 1867 in Perry County, Ohio. He was buried in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
